1930s Country House, Mole Valley, Surrey
“Irene and Jonathan put their minds together and presented multiple feasibility options, exhausting all ideas which allowed us to choose the final design with confidence. It fully met the objectives we wanted to achieve. We felt really supported throughout the whole process. It just worked for us!”

1930s Country House
Remodelling and Extension Mole Valley, Dorking, Surrey
The brief, to improve the appearance of the front of the property in-keeping with the original design, a better kitchen layout and a new spacious family bathroom.
Full of style and character, this property nestles in a secluded location and enjoys stunning views across a local lake and beyond to the Surrey Hills and Leith Hill Tower. The property is thought to have originally been used as a hunting lodge. The front of the property has been significantly altered with a 1970s flat-roof extension, porch and a prominently located garage and perspex carport. Arguably the most-used room in the house - the kitchen - was located in the centre of the house and, as an inner room, was dark and isolated.
Our design re-orientated all habitable accommodation to look out towards the lakeside and countryside views. A clear approach to the house was established by removing all unsightly extensions and the new addition of a stunning, double-height, glazed hallway and porch. The restructuring of the facade reflects the interior remodelling, including a first floor extension that rebalanced the front elevation of the property and allowed for the creation of the larger family bathroom and spacious landing, flooded with daylight.
In order to update the remaining facilities within the extensive grounds, an existing summerhouse and sheds will also be replaced by a new double garage, pool house and home gym.
