Extension & remodelling to 1930s family home, Dorking, Surrey
Contractors are making great progress at the extension and remodelling of a family home in Dorking, Surrey
The construction of our 1930s vernacular family home project in Dorking, Surrey is progressing well since commencement in February 2021. Our new layout forms an open-plan kitchen/dining and family room across the entire building, partially located in a new single storey extension. The new layout is a north-south orientated addressing the new garden layout and takes in the stunning Surrey Hill views.
On the first floor, a new master bedroom gable extension cantilevers out over the new family space and forms a contemporary, covered outdoor area to sit under and enjoy the views. Likewise, the bedroom suite layout has been designed to take in the views with a large feature window and window seat.
The existing porch, hallway and landing have been redesigned as one open-plan space with a new gallery layout, all benefitting from a new structurally glazed roof-light and window to provide ample daylight and, once again, views out and emphasis the new double-height space.
The shell of the extensions is nearing completion, with the ground floor masonry walls and steel frame now cantilevering the first floor timber-framed gable. Internally, a new family bathroom layout has been formed and the new master bedroom suite is taking shape.
