Arts & Crafts family home renovation approved by SDNPA
Planning permission has been granted to modernise and extend an arts & crafts family home within the South Downs National Park.
The SDNP Authority has granted planning permission for a two storey extension to detached house. The extension will house a new open-plan kitchen/dining and family room and a new master bedroom suite. The new accommodation will benefit from optimum southerly orientation and garden setting and views. Together with general internal reconfigurations, the home will deliver contemporary living with 5 bedrooms.
Our design also includes the reconfiguration of the existing building approach and entrance with an existing porch infill and new front porch. External alterations to the appearance of the property including a new garage roof will also be made. These changes will retain the original arts & crafts features whilst sympathetically rectifying the lack of character of later extensions.
The new building services will benefit from renewable energy sources, such as an air-source heat pump and an improved thermal performance of the entire building fabric These changes will result in considerably lower energy costs and reduced CO2 emissions.
